This was a one day workshop on the theme of ‘Inspired by Nature’. The Year 5 children had already made some excellent drawings on which to base the designs of their felt panels. I started off with a Power Point and demonstration and then they stuck right in!

Unusually in a Primary school, the children had had lots of experience with stitch work and were all really keen to quilt their panels as well as stitch on beads.

By the end of the day we had some lovely quilted panels to show for all their hard work.

You can see by these pictures that the finished felt design is very close to the original children’s drawing.

The only thing left is for the quilted panels to be hemmed and a ribbon attached to each corner so that they can be displayed as a whole quilt or detached to make individual panels.
